Job Description

TO Live is currently seeking a “Vice President of Marketing & Communications”.  Reporting to the President and CEO, this executive position provides leadership in the realization of the organization’s marketing and communications department with a mandate and key responsibility to reach tickets sales goals, maximize net revenues from marketing campaigns; and to maximize the TO Live corporate brand (communications).

ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Define strategies, objectives and resources to plan for the department.  Ensure that short and long-term business goals are met.
  • Develop strategies and work with the marketing team to establish processes and platforms to support the Programming, Development, Education & Engagement, and other departments within the organization.
  • Work closely with the President and CEO to establish a brand identity and a strategic plan to implement and activate through internal channels and externally through all communities.
  • Oversee the corporate Marketing & Communications operating budget as well as that of the Ticketing Department Work with the Programming Department, establish the marketing and communications budgets/campaigns for individual risk shows.
  • Maintain and develop TO Live’s corporate brand and website.
  • Direct the design and creation of all printed and other media which reflect TO Live’s brand, including stationary, press, sponsorship and sales materials, catering, food & beverage services, front of house supplies, Education and Engagement marketing materials.
  • Oversee the marketing team’s individual show marketing plans including creative, promotions & media relations to reach ticket and ancillary sales goals.
  • When requested, oversee the execution of marketing plans on behalf of rental clients by following policy # 303.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism in all relationships that include: internal and external client. industry, government and other professional relationships.
  • Participate in all strategic and tactical planning as a member of the Senior Management team with a key focus on creating and developing community partnerships and a greater profile and inclusion in Toronto’s arts community. 
  • Participation in Board Committee and Board of Directors meetings as required.
  • Recruit, train. develop and direct a committed, motivated marketing and communication team.
  • Remain current in areas of responsibility through education courses, professional publications, professional networking, and professional societies.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure effective coordination of activities and delivery of required objectives.
  • Create a culture where staff feel informed, valued and empowered to give their best.
  • Conduct and/or oversee any staff disciplinary action, as well as assess further opportunities for training as required.
  • Undertake special projects and duties as assigned by the President and CEO.


Requirements:

  • A senior-level marketing individual with 15 years of experience with the ability to lead, organize and inspire a team across multiple job functions (marketing, communications, public relations, ticketing and advertising).
  • Experience in planning, execution, and measurement of marketing strategy.
  • Minimum requirement of an undergraduate degree in marketing and the arts.
  • Experience in live entertainment marketing as asset.
  • Knowledge of the not-for-profit environment.
  • Knowledge of development objectives in an arts environment.
  • Skills include strong leadership, interpersonal, team building, negotiating, sales and collaborative, creativity, out of the box thinker with strong digital and social media acumen.
  • Ability to work in fast paced multi-project environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of specialized marketing technologies.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint in a Microsoft Windows operating system.

  • Flexibility in hours and schedules that includes work at nights and weekends as required.
  • Lack of natural light in workplace.

  • Travel between TO Live venues as required.
