A non-profit performing arts centre in located in the beautiful Canadian North. With two performance venues, and three galleries, the Yukon Arts Centre is a national leader in presenting cutting-edge works to the Whitehorse community, drawn from local, national, and international artists.



Job Description

WHO YOU ARE:
As the Programming & Venue Coordinator, you play a key part in our team – working to ensure the visual and performing arts programming and venue needs of your colleagues, artists, patrons, and client community are satisfied. You love to connect with artists and our clients in an open, helpful, and engaging manner.
You are an organized problem solver who is self motivated and can work under pressure. You like to work with a team that is just as dedicated as you are to having fun but working hard to achieve our goals. You enjoy kicking around ideas and putting them into action.
You have some experience similar to working in retail, theatre setting, tourism, front line work or project/event management as these skills are readily transferable to this position.
You are available to work flexible work weeks that includes working evenings and weekends.
You will have access to our benefit program after 3 months employment and staff RRSP matching program.



Requirements:

Education/Experience
Graduation from a recognized theatre technical programme (college or university) and
one (1) year of basic arts administration experience (contracts, filing, cheque requisitions, hotel/travel booking).
An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered.

 Knowledge:
1.    Basic computer knowledge, in particularly in interfacing laptops and projection (PC and MAC)
2.    Basic knowledge of recruitment and performance management principles and practices
3.    Good working knowledge of all Box Office/Bar Software (Theatre Manager, Bar POS, etc.) and ticket scanners.

Additional Info:

The Yukon Arts Centre is, a vibrant, inclusive, creative space for artists and audiences. It has a 438 seat theatre, Category A art gallery and a small performance/residency venue downtown Whitehorse.

Status: Full Time, Flex Time, 40 hours per week - PSAC Bargaining Unit Position
Rate of Pay: $24.12/hour during six-month probation period, increasing to $25.10/hour upon completion of a successful probationary period.
Benefits: Access to benefit program after 3 months employment and staff RRSP matching program
Hours of Work: As required for events averaged to 40 hours per week.
