Niagara Symphony
The Niagara Symphony’s main season consists of at least 12 Pops and Masterworks concerts from October to May. During the summer months, the Niagara Symphony performs for thousands of residents and visitor at festivals, forts and wineries throughout the Niagara Region. More than 250 children from across the Region enroll in the Niagara Symphony Summer Music Camp. During the course of the year we reach new and young audiences through other Symphony education and outreach activities including our Composer-in-the-Classroom program, and our Music Encounters projects such as the Niagara Symphony Youth Club, Master Classes and Guest Lectures, and Pre-Concert Talks.

Job Description

Summary
The Niagara Symphony is searching for a passionate, high-performing brander and communicator to join our team as a Marketing and Communications Co-ordinator.  Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing and Communications Co-ordinator is a positive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented individual with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to excellence.  This position will initially focus heavily on Concert Season brand management, relaunching social media strategies and various communication channels, and working with our marketing firm to establish an annual marketing and communications strategy.  It has the potential to grow in accountability and evolve to a leadership/senior manager role in 18-36 months for the right candidate.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement the Annual Season Marketing campaign (implementation only for 2022-2023)
  • With the Executive Director, develop overall annual marketing and communications strategy for all channels of business (Season, Development & Special Events,Education, Outreach), and execute an annual work plan to deliver on strategy
  • Write content for both print and web including the Orchestra website, social channels, and brochures
  • Recommend techniques to improve the Orchestra’s public image
  • Make sure that all promotional and marketing materials meet the orchestra’s brand identity strategy
  • Manage all corporate sponsorship relationships, design and deliver sponsorship packages and actively pursue new corporate partnerships
  • Identify and resolve any issues with promotional content in a timely and professional manner
  • Support the Executive Director as an additional point of contact for media and public relations
  • Build and maintain relationships with key media and social influencers
  • Assess and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies
  • Coordinate meetings, press conferences, and presentations
  • Monitor the Orchestra’s social media and online presence
  • Lead season ticket sales, including adjusting marketing plans to ensure maximum sales for each concert
  • Perform other administrative and related duties as necessary


Requirements:

Qualifications
  • Two to three years of Marketing and Communications experience; preferably in the Arts or Education
  • Strong corporate relationship background
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to build genuine and meaningful relationships with stakeholders while maintaining discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgement
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), online search engines, social media platforms, and SEO
  • A passion and appreciation for music and the arts, particularly orchestral music
  • Relevant post-secondary education
