The York Region Arts Council (YRAC) is the only York Region-wide not-for-profit charitable arts and tourism service organization focused on capacity building, creative placemaking and community engagement.
Since 2002, YRAC has played a pivotal role in shaping a conversation around arts and tourism in the region.

Our work supports the development of artists, arts organizations, creative entrepreneurs. Working collaboratively with over 100 stakeholders and industry partners on an annual basis, our services directly impact over 500 artists and creative organizations.
Our regional tourism portfolio, Experience York Region (XYR), is supporting the development of local businesses, attractions and other tourism focused stakeholders, groups and organizations. 

York Region Arts Council and Experience York Region reach over 1,000,000 individuals annually.
We are a customer service provider – to the Regional Municipality of York, each of the nine municipalities that reside in the Region, arts organizations, artists, tourism businesses, and the community at-large. 

Job Description

This is a transformative time for the organization and for the arts, tourism and creative industries of York Region.
As the Marketing and Outreach Manager, you will work closely with the Executive Director to set and implement strategies that will have a deep and profound impact on the arts and tourism sectors in the region. 

This is an excellent role to bring new ideas, to work collaboratively with key industry stakeholders, and to support the arts movement by bringing it to the forefront of everyday life experiences. Your passion alongside your skillset in marketing, resource and partnership development, will bring the right balance to support and grow York Region Arts Council and Experience York Region.

As a key member of the team, you will manage relationships with community organizations, key stakeholders and independent artists, as well as lead the marketing efforts to build the organization's brand and the industry at large. In this role you will champion and manage new projects to create stronger partnerships and help build the organizational network through targeted outreach, marketing, and resource development.

  • Motivated self-starter with strong community development and partnership development skills
  • Understanding of arts, culture, tourism industries (preferably in York Region)
  • Confident and proficient in dealing with key stakeholders with support from the Executive Director and Program Manager
  • Strong analytical, communications, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with computers
  • Experience with various social media channels, marketing software (Canva, Constant Contact, Jotform) and web platforms (Wordpress, Squarespace)
  • Graphic Design experience an asset

About the Role:

  • Implement, oversee and support the development of marketing and outreach strategies for YRAC and XYR
  • Work with key stakeholders in the region: independent artists, members, donors, businesses and corporations, community organizations, tourism offices, and others, to develop new business and resource opportunities
  • Regional tourism and cultural event support onsite, as needed
  • Develop and implement YRAC’s and XYR’s annual marketing strategy, marketing budget(s), and marketing campaigns 
  • Manage all marketing and communications elements including: website maintenance, graphic design, PR, social media, e-news, print, and other marketing initiatives for YRAC and XYR


  • 5+ years experience in partnership and resource development, in a marketing, business and/or non-profit environment
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills, and exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Experience in strategic communications, marketing initiatives, press, and social media outreach
  • Knowledge in website content management, print and digital production processes
  • Knowledge and interest in the regional arts and culture sector, community services, and/or tourism sector is a strong asset
  • Access to a vehicle and ability to travel across York Region and the GTA
  • Adaptable to a flexible work schedule, including some evenings and weekends
  • Business, Marketing, and/or Cultural Management degree or diploma an asset
