Organization Description

NABET 700-M UNIFOR is a union of film, television and new media technicians that has serviced Ontario and the world for over forty-five (45) years.
NABET 700-M UNIFOR formed in 1970 and later merged with CEP and CAW in 1994. The Union provided video tape technicians, but later expanded to provide television and film technicians to Toronto's growing production industry. In 2013, CEP and CAW merged to create UNIFOR. UNIFOR is now Canada's largest private sector union, with more than 300,000 members in all sectors across the country.
NABET 700-M UNIFOR currently has over 3,000 qualified technicians in fifteen (15) departments of the film and television industry and is the premier local for Canadian producers who have been signatory to a Collective Agreement with NABET 700-M UNIFOR. Their members crew a show on a non-seniority basis that allows productions to hire the technicians they know are appropriate for the upcoming production. This ensures that the best people are always working on the right production, which is a benefit both to producers and NABET 700-M UNIFOR members alike.
