That Arts Group (TAG), Toronto’s newest arts organisation is looking for curious, creative applicants to volunteer for its board of directors. We are looking for enthusiastic, scrappy leaders who are interested in working with us as we create Canada’s next exciting arts organisation.
We respect, champion and uplift underrepresented voices; and we strongly welcome and encourage those who self-identify as coming from marginalised communities to submit.
Mission and Vision
That Arts Group (TAG) is a dynamic, storytelling organisation celebrating the boundless possibilities of what can happen when community, diversity, equity and inclusivity are put into the core of creation. As Toronto’s newest and most exciting arts institution, TAG is uniquely positioned to be the foremost creative hub celebrating both contemporary and canonical works of theatre (That Theatre Company) and choral music (That Choir).
This rare and unparalleled genesis of theatre and art music will invariably uplift and best reflect the communities in which we create and serve.
Expectations
- Serve a two-year renewable term starting February 2023.
- Attend quarterly board meetings + potential subcommittee meetings.
- Actively participate in the expanding mission and vision of TAG.
- Work with Executive Director, Alan Macdonald and Artistic Director, Craig Pike to develop and implement policies and best practices.
- Participate in fundraising and potential sponsorship opportunities and/or make a donation to the company at a personally meaningful contribution level.
- Purchase tickets to performances and fundraisers.
- Be a knowledgeable ambassador for the work That Arts Group accomplishes and advocate for That Arts Group within the community.
Interested prospective applicants should possess some of the following qualifications:
- A passion for the future of the arts both locally in Toronto and on a national level.
- Expertise in one or more of the following:
- Diversity/Equity/Inclusion
- Fundraising
- Marketing
- Grant-writing
- Not-for-profit law
- Fundraising abilities and connections to sources of public and private funding for the advancement of That Arts Group.
- Strong and thoughtful communication and collaboration skills.
- Meaningful ties within the artistic community of Toronto.
Please note: That Arts Group is currently looking for volunteer board members only.
