Do you need stronger business skills in order to advance your career in the cultural sector? Ryerson University’s G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education offers courses that can help you build strategies to enhance your arts management, audience engagement and sponsorship, marketing, or social media promotion to support your creative work.
The Chang School’s Course Series in Arts and Entertainment Administration is suitable for arts managers, potential arts managers, and individual artists. This four-course program has been designed to equip you with entrepreneurial skills to support your creative ideas. Learn from seasoned professionals who work in the cultural industry and develop the confidence to build your business. Past students have successfully applied their learning into projects and employment. Students will build a case study based on a real or imagined project of their own.

The following non-credit course will be offered in evening classes on campus at Ryerson University in downtown Toronto:
Audience Outreach and Engagement (CDAM 102) (19.5 hours)
Expanding and enriching the audience experience is vital for the ongoing success of all artistic endeavours, from performing arts groups to visual artists. This course helps to develop skills that address the interchange between the product and the audience, through marketing, special events, and corporate sponsorship.
Scheduling: Mondays, 6:30–9:30 p.m., November 4–December 16, 2019
Instructor: Lorraine Patterson has enjoyed an over 25-year career in marketing and sponsorship with a focus on the arts and entertainment fields. She has led creative and account service teams for clients such as the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the National Arts Centre, the Canadian Opera Company, and several New York theatre productions. Lorraine is currently the Associate Director, Sponsorship for the Stratford Festival.
