- Canada's senior artists are at risk, according to a nation-wide survey released by the Senior Artists Research Project headed by Joysanne Sidimus, founder of the Dancer Transition Resource Centre. According to the research, because so many senior artists have been self-employed, they are not entitled to the same benefits as employees. They experience wildly fluctuating incomes which impacts on their senior years. For example, 46% have had health care needs not covered by public health care; 35% have annual income from all sources that is less than $20,000; and 61% are at moderate or high financial risk.
