Senior Accountant for Maternity leave

Reporting to the Head of Production and Finance, the Senior Accountant will be a key contributor to our organization.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of full cycle accounting experience in a corporate environment; entertainment industry experience would be very helpful, with an excellent knowledge of Quickbooks.

The individual must be a strong communicator, able to meet deadlines while having a strong attention to detail in a fast paced environment.

The Senior Accountant will ensure accurate and complete recordings of accounting transactions, timely closure of month-end accounting records, preparation of financial reports as well as a smooth relationship with other key stakeholders. This role will help develop, communicate and organize processes to maximize efficiency.

• Prepare and upload journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts
• Prepare financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, etc.)
• Perform balance sheets and  profit and loss account reconciliations
• Prepare and oversee all corporate and subsidiary AP/AR and Payroll
• Prepare and maintain fixed asset schedule
• Reconcile intercompany transactions
• Perform monthly and year end close for parent company and subsidiaries as well as prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations and reports.
• Analyze and explain account variances.
• Prepare reports schedules and communicate with internal and external parties including CRA and External Auditors.
• Monthly banking reconciliations
• Oversee weekly credit card & petty cash reconciliations
• Monthly payroll and tax remittances
• Participate in special projects/requests as needed.
• Ad-hoc assignments as required

• Education
o Post-secondary education in accounting and working towards CGA/CA designation an asset

• Experience
o 3-5 years’ experience performing general and full cycle accounting procedures.
o Entertainment Industry experience is a plus.
o Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are required.
o Ability to multitask, problem solve and deliver on expectations.
o Must be well organized and be detailed oriented.
o Must be customer focused with strong teamwork skills.

• Knowledge/Skills
o Functional:
• Advanced knowledge of Quickbooks
• Strong proficiency in Excel including V-lookups and pivot tables

• Start Date: Immediately 
o This is a part time 3 days per week position in downtown Toronto
