Goldelox Productions

Black Youth! Pathway to Industry as per funded by the Ministry of Child and Youth Service (MCYS) through the Black Youth Action Plan (BYAP) from March 1, 2018 through March 31, 2021 is a digital media career training and job placement initiative lead by Goldelox Productions in partnership with several prominent professional media companies in the GTA. The initiative is focused on post secondary educated black youth who are actively looking for gainful employment in the film, television and digital media industry. 

Job Description

Program Coordinator Job Posting
The role of a Program Coordinator is to provide support to the participants and partners throughout the duration of the project and coordinate employment opportunities. The project coordinator is expected to work closely with participants and industry stakeholders to oversee all aspects of the program including digital media training centered on archiving to activating digital stories from the archives through film and television production. The program coordinator will report directly to a project manager and provide mentorship and networking opportunities in the film, television and supporting creative arts industries.



General Duties & Responsibilities:
Coordinate the implementation of career and training workshops with various project partners,
Provide coaching/counseling for participants on how to enter industry unions, guilds and organizations based on career interests and goals,
Coordinate job placements/internships creating a pathway for black youth into this industry and supporting creative industries,
Provide leadership for monitoring, and evaluation of the program,
Manage and coordinate the allocation and use of project equipment/supplies,
Manage and coordinate and manage TTC passes, participants kits and fees for professional organizations, guilds, unions, first aid, WHIMS,
Coordinate the workflow and storage of project content,
Any other duties as required.

Professional Qualifications:
  • All candidates are expected to have a post secondary degree/diploma from a recognized institution in a relevant discipline with a minimum of three years related experience coordinating and facilitating young people in Canadian arts sector, as well as demonstrate a familiarity with the intersections of black community engagement and media arts from an anti-oppression lens,
  • Must have experience/knowledge of either digital media, the film/television industry, multimedia or supporting creative arts sectors,
  • Progressive coordinating experience in an arts-based setting, leading and supporting young people and teams,
  • Job counselling and career counselling skills are necessary
  • Excellent and responsive problem-solving and conflict resolution skills,
  • Knowledge and experience with landscape of youth support services,
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively as a leader and as a member of a team,
  • High degree of confidence in using and information technologies and digital media or curation software applications,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • Excellent time management and priority setting skills,
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and grant writing.
