CMI is growing! We are looking for GREAT artist mentors to help with our in-house professional development programs (Artist Entrepreneur; Artist Entrepreneur Online), regional AE bootcamps and third-party programs.
This is an occasional part-time position that may require travel.
As an artist mentor, you will:
  • Facilitate mentorship sessions with emerging artists of all genres in groups (max. 20) and one-on-one
  • Provide artistic and entrepreneurial insights and perspectives from your own experiences (writing, recording, performing and touring, releasing music, marketing,writing grants, working with industry partners)
  • Work in collaboration with entrepreneurial/music industry mentor


  • 3-5 years working as a professional and/or self-managed musician (performer, writer, session musician, touring)
  • Strong technical ability with your instrument(s) and ability to communicate musical ideas/concepts
  • College or University training in instrumental performance, or equivalent professional experience
  • Previous experience mentoring considered an asset
Skills / Characteristics
The successful candidate will have the following knowledge and skills:
  • An outgoing personality with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Natural coaching / leadership ability in group and one-on-one scenarios
  • Comfortable public speaking and answering questions
  • Ability to conduct themselves professionally and deliver high-quality work in all scenarios
  • A desire to help others; empathetic; compassionate; sincere; emotionally intelligent
  • Creative problem solver; flexible; quick thinker
  • Understanding of technical equipment (computers, monitors, PA) considered an asset
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • A professional

Additional Info:

  • Training provided to successful candidates but preference given to those with depth/variety of experience as relates to this posting
  • CMI is non-academic organization, applicants showing experience in entrepreneurship and small business management preferred
