Job Description

Tafelmusik, Canada’s leading period instrument orchestra is seeking an Interim Managing Director (IMD) to oversee its administrative functions while it conducts a search for a full time Managing Director.  The IMD will work closely with Tafelmusik’s dynamic new Music Director, Elisa Citterio and will play a key part in the success of an ambitious 40th anniversary season.   The Interim Managing Director will also be considered for the full-time role if this is desired. 

This will be a contract position that starts on August 1st and will have an initial term of five months.  The engagement may be extended by mutual agreement.  The IMD will report to the Chair of Tafelmusik’s board of directors.   He/she will oversee direct reports in the areas of Marketing, Operations, Development and Finance.  The IMD will also work on the preparation of grant applications, oversee the release of two recordings on Tafelmusik’s media label and have other duties as assigned by the Chair.  This is a great opportunity to work with a talented group of people and help build Tafelmusik’s presence in Canada and internationally. 
 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a senior management role with a mid sized performing arts organization.
  • Collaborative personality that can engage with a team and lead results.
  • Well organized, good communicator and capable of understanding and leading all of the functional areas identified above.
Based in Tafelmusik’s Toronto office on Bloor Street, this position is a full-time role and will require attendance of concerts in the evenings and weekends as appropriate.
