Job Description

Reporting to the Production Manager and the Technical Director,the Head Carpenter is responsible for all construction of Main Stage productions and may be asked to assist with Studio productions. all within assigned budgets and schedules.

This is an hands-on position, the Head Carpenter is also a builder on all productions.

He or she supervises all other carpenters hired and is responsible for the set up and take-down of all scenic elements.

in consultation with the Technical Director and Production Manager,the Head Carpenter is responsible for costing construction drawings ,ordering materials and scheduling crews under his/her supervision.


The successful candidate will have five or more years of work experience in a shop and stage  environment

Must me knowledgeable in theatre construction practices, working with both wood and metal.

Experienced with all types of scenery

Strong written and verbal Engish skills, and is a team player

Must have a clean driving record.

Working at Heights, and Aerial Work Platforms certified.

Additional Info:

The scenic carpenters work under the jurisdiction of IATSE Local 129

The carpentry shop operates from mid August to end of April, with possible extended time.
