Job Description

A Mississauga/Oakville Fine Art Gallery is seeking a full-time Assistant Director.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a growing contemporary fine art gallery and join a dynamic team of motivated individuals.

The successful candidate must have previous high end sales experience.

Duties will include:
  • Performing general administrative tasks
  • Handling all daily aspects of gallery operations, including wiring and framing of works
  • Greet customers and establish rapport
  • Identify needs and provide solutions that are consistent with the customer's preferences and budget.
  • Schedule home consultations and follow up presentations
  • Keeping clients informed through daily and weekly social media updates
  • Maintaining the Website, adding new pieces and updating as works are sold or become unavailable
  • General maintenance and cleaning of gallery space as required


The ideal candidate will:
  • Have a passion and a deep commitment to the visual arts
  • Be positive, outgoing and highly motivated
  • Have several years of proven high-end retail sales experience
  • Be comfortable with providing exceptional customer service to upscale clientele in a professional manner  
Necessary qualifications include:
  • Excellent computer skills including experience with Mac OS, Filemaker Pro and Photoshop/digital imaging software, Outlook Express, and the Internet.
  • Experience in a customer service environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven experience with Social Media (Facebook, Instagram & Twitter)

Additional Info:

Qualified applicants must be available to work on weekends and evenings, have a valid drivers license and their own vehicle and be capable of performing tasks that are physically demanding (such as packing and shipping of artwork, hanging of framed pieces and setting up for events). 
Marketing and/or Interior Design experience are a plus.
