From Broadway musicals, to laugh-a-minute comedies and riveting dramas, Drayton Entertainment presents the finest in live theatre for all ages at seven unique venues across Ontario: the Drayton Festival Theatre in Drayton, Hamilton Family Theatre in Cambridge, Huron Country Playhouse and Playhouse II in Grand Bend, King's Wharf Theatre in Penetanguishene, and St. Jacobs Country Playhouse, and Schoolhouse Theatre in St. Jacobs.

Job Description


A creative, talented and well-organized individual with at least 3-5 years of experience in the fundraising sector, preferably in a leadership role, the Development Manager will take responsibility for the cultivation and execution of various development programs and fundraising initiatives, in conjunction with the Executive Director and other department staff.

Duties and Responsibilities shall include but not be limited to:
  • Coordinate sponsorship programs and administration of sponsor-related benefits.
  • Procurement of in-kind donations as required by various departments.
  • Coordinate advertising programs and administration of advertiser-related benefits.
  • Manage specific projects outlined in Drayton Entertainment’s annual Development strategy, including special events and fundraisers.
  • Assist with proposal (program-based funding) and report writing (evidence-based narrative).
  • Administer paperwork, payment plans, and benefits fulfillment for major gifts received via grants, foundations, planned giving, and endowments.
  • Administer grassroots capital campaign gifts at all theatres (seats, tiles, etc.)
  • Coordinate promotional and revenue generation initiatives (e.g. dining, accommodation and attraction bundling/packages) and other partnering opportunities (e.g. Opening Night receptions) in tandem with the marketing team.
  • Administer paperwork and prizes relating to 50-50 raffles, usher programs, staff incentive/reward programs, and company social committee.
  • Work with the marketing team to ensure a consistent image of Drayton Entertainment fundraising initiatives is communicated through literature, activities, and media.
  • Represent the organization at community and special events, including public speaking engagements, pitches, presentations, and theatre tours as needed.


Required Skills: The successful candidate must have a definite passion for the performing arts and an intense desire to work with the public. Some evening and weekend work will be required. 

Additional qualifications include:
  • Post-secondary education; University Degree preferred.
  • Previous project management and donor relations experience.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to generate sales/gifts and cultivate relationships with potential stakeholders.
  • Engaging personality, coupled with persistence and tenacity.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • A “self-starter” with demonstrated time management skills and a process for completing the sales cycle.
  • Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook is essential, as well as aptitude for learning software programs (ticketing). 
  • Other:  Vehicle access is a must, as considerable time will be spent soliciting business for all Drayton Entertainment markets across Southwestern Ontario.
