The Songwriters Association of Canada (S.A.C.) exists to nurture, develop and protect the creative, business, and legal interests of music creators in Canada and around the world.  The S.A.C. is an association led by active professional and amateur songwriters. The S.A.C. is committed to the development and recognition of Canadian composers, lyricists and songwriters by pursuing:
• their right to benefit from and receive fair compensation for the use of their work;
• the advancement of the craft and enterprise of songwriting through educational programs, networking opportunities, dissemination of business knowledge and other services;
• a more favourable environment through the provision of a united national voice when dealing with government, the music industry and the general public; and
• the development of activities which allow members to reach out and enjoy the sense of community shared by songwriters.

Job Description

S.A.C. is a non-profit organization (located at Don Mills and York Mills) and a member based community of Songwriters across Canada with the mandate to nurture, develop and protect the creative, business, and legal interests of music creators in Canada and around the world. The S.A.C. is looking for a creative and talented individual to assist in developing a comprehensive communications and marketing plan content for growth of the professional membership base and advocacy initiatives during the summer months. You will be working closely with the Operations, Event and Membership team to identify communication and marketing research priorities with support of a consultant and a system to measure the associations communications activity effectively. 

The Communications Coordinator will assist in the design the association website and newsletter and develop a strategy to develop content to engage our social audience across the country and around the world in order to build brand awareness through creative messaging while maintaining and developing our brand mission. This is a great opportunity to build a fantastic network and learn how to manage a marketing and communications plan from start to finish.


- Basic knowledge of Communication strategies and budget requirements
- Must have strong experience in social media engagement with bloggers, on Instagram,
Facebook and Twitter Experience in songwriting, networking & event promotion
- Ability to design and execute research plans
- Excellent written communication skills in English
- Candidates must be second or third-year university/college communications and marketing

Additional Info:

As our Communications Coordinator, you will:
• Participate in communication meetings and contribute creative ideas to engage effectively
with existing members and new audiences
• Create a Communications Plan and budget for social media content across all Social Media
platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Wordpress, Linkedin & Twitter).
