Job Description

The Position

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Communications & Media Relations, the Communications Coordinator will coordinate promotional tasks which support the overall goals of the department in fostering the ongoing conversation with Soulpepper and the Young Centre’s current patrons, communities, partners and media.
 
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Promotes Soulpepper's corporate communications to our various publics through coordinating blog posts and e-newsletters.
  • Coordinates communications with theatre patrons, including email reminders and thank-you follow-ups.
  • Aims to grow Soulpepper's audience through targeted niche community outreach and promotional partnership support.
  • Provides assistance with public relations media outreach / coordinating, including opening nights and media attendance.
  • Coordinates the scheduling, delivery, and editing of communications copy for productions, including background notes, and artist notes for Playbills, Shells and program notes.
  • Assist with building emails and invitations supporting opening nights and development events.
  • A departmental resource for interacting with our CRM Tessitura, and pulling segmentation lists.
  • Coordinate Soulpepper's event listings across available public platforms and websites, while exploring new opportunities.
  • Supports Soulpepper's digital presence on website maintenance, promotional and marketing emails, and social media as needed.


Requirements:

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have:
  • Strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of media relations and press outreach
  • Proficiency with web-based email platforms (WordFly), Outlook, Word and Excel, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and/or InDesign.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS and web content management systems
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with multiple deadlines
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent time management, organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Professionalism, maturity and sensitivity to confidential information
  • Passion for theatre
  • Knowledge of Tessitura or similar CRM platform is an asset.

Education/Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree in arts administration, communications, or a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience
  • 2 years related experience in a performing arts organization
