Job Description

Conducts art courses; demonstrates and discusses the techniques and materials particular to the course medium (painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, graphic arts, mixed media and/or other studio techniques, art theory) and target audiences year round.


• Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated experience working in the appropriate medium for the course(s) (drawing, sculpture, painting, printmaking, graphic art, mixed media, art history/theory) as well as the relevant conceptual background, techniques, materials and practices for instructing in those media/subjects.
• Comprehensive knowledge and directly related experience with teaching methodologies, techniques and practices, relevant to children and youth as required by the course. Demonstrated experience teaching at the age level of programming for students.
• Public exhibition and/or publication of their work in the previous two-years as well as post-secondary studies in education and studio art; knowledge of art history.
• Well-developed interpersonal, public relations, and verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work well as part of an instructional team
• Working knowledge of the AGO collection.
• Demonstrated computer competency (word, excel, email, etc.)
