Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival

Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival is a not-for-profit organization and North America’s largest documentary festival, conference and market.

Held in Toronto each spring, the Festival presents approximately 200 Canadian and international films to audiences exceeding 210,000. For documentary professionals, Hot Docs offers a dynamic slate of industry events and initiatives, including the renowned Hot Docs Forum and Hot Docs Deal Maker pitch meeting service, as well as a full roster of professional development opportunities and networking occasions. The 25th annual Hot Docs will take place April 26 - May 6, 2018.

Additionally, Hot Docs also operates the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema, a 650-seat, century-old screening venue in Toronto, and is the event organizer for the annual World Congress of Science and Factual Producers, an international, member-run industry event.

Job Description

As the first face of the festival, Airport Supervisors will oversee a group of Volunteer Airport Greeters as they welcome incoming guests of Hot Docs 2017—including filmmakers, subjects and industry guests—at the Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Duties include:

  • Supervising a team of 2-4 volunteers
  • Liaise with Guest Relations Coordinator and Airport Drivers regarding any flight changes
  • Greet incoming guests and usher them to their assigned driver
  • Provide guests with information on festival industry benefits and events


EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: April 26 – May 3, 2017 (plus training)

REPORTS TO: Guest Relations Coordinator



  • Excellent communication skills (access to a cell phone is required)
  • Ability to be flexible and quick-thinking when faced with changes in itinerary
  • Ability to remain calm in fast-paced environment
  • Customer service experience considered an asset
  • Interest in documentary or film industries
