Millinery, Props Builder & Wardrobe Practicums

Program Overview
The Millinery Practicum program provides a basic grounding in millinery techniques with an emphasis on theatrical application. The program’s broad approach builds on participants’ previous experience and introduces them to a new range of skills that could be developed further in an optional second year in the program.

Props Builder Practicum participants will examine their core skills and develop the skills needed by a props builder, with mentorship from faculty. A wide variety of techniques are covered through collaborative and individual instruction, assignments, and presentations.

The Wardrobe Technician Practicum program provides intense immersion into all aspects of wardrobe, with departmental crossovers and collaborative creativity. Past workshops have included tailoring, millinery, boots and shoes, dyeing, jewelry, corsetry, draping, flat pattern drafting, sewing machine maintenance, wigs and makeup, prosthetics, masks, thermoplastics, life drawing, lighting, welding, and knots.
