The next Robert Johnston Award will be presented in the fall of 2018.


The selection committee is looking for nominees that meet the following criteria:

  • Working as a manager, mentor, supporter or educator in the cultural sector in Ontario
  • Have contributed a minimum of five years of professional service to arts and cultural industries
  • Have demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the support of people working in our sector


Individuals may nominate anyone working in the cultural sector who meets the criteria above.

The entire written submission should be no longer than six (6) pages, and should include:

  • A brief summary of the nominee’s work history (a resume or curriculum vitae could be included, if available)
  • A description of the activities and achievements of the nominee that support the criteria, along with specific examples and demonstrated achievements.
  • In addition, we are requesting 2 letters of support for the nomination which should come from individuals who are familiar with the nominee and who support the nomination, along with their rationale.


  • Nominations must be submitted electronically to with the subject: The Robert Johnston Award OR in hard copy to the Office of the WorkInCulture, 27 Carlton Street, Ste. 304.Toronto, M5B 1L2, Attention: The Robert Johnston Award Committee.
  • All nominations will be reviewed by the Robert Johnston Award Selection Committee, made up of a jury of peers
  • The award recipient will be publicly announced and honoured during WIC’s annual general meeting in the fall, 2018.
